Nashville Personal Trainer Gives the Scoop on Frankenfish.

Share

Not sure if you heard the news, but the government is deciding whether it's safe for us to eat genetically engineered salmon a la Frankenfish.

Basically, a biotech firm in Massachusetts has developed a fish that they claim is in every way identical to Atlantic salmon – except it grows to normal size much faster. They claim that the AquAdvantage salmon in particular could ease pressure on wild fish stocks, reduce the environmental impact of traditional fish farming, and help feed the growing world population.

Let's be realistic here. Farm raised fish and genetically modified fish are the same.

Here's the scoop on man–altered fish.

Companies produce farm raised fish to make a profit. Farm raised fish are given unnatural feed and can be highly toxic compared to their natural wild counterparts.

Farm-raised salmon has been found to have troubling levels of PCBs, a known cancer causing agent. When you eat this food the toxins go inside you!

So whether its farm-raised or this new genetically altered fish, make a conscientious decision before you decide to bring that fish home and eat it. Wild caught fish are the best choice.

And by the way, if you want an ultra-potent and pure source of essential fatty acids, well, my partners over at Prograde have their awesome EFA Icon on sale this week. That and a couple other products, too. Check out the savings at: Prograde

Cheers,

Rickey
